As a new year has just arrived I wanted to do a quick look back two years ago. It was December 2008 when I finished my final semestre at NSCAD University, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Textiles and a Minor in Jewellery.
At NSCAD there is the opportunity for all graduating students to apply to have a graduation exhibit in the Anna Leonowens Gallery that is affiliated with the university. For my show I decided to show the process behind the pieces I had been working on.
I love working with wool and in this coat used my felt applique technique as an accent on the shoulder. For all of these jackets I designed them myself, drafted the patterns and dyed the wool.
Maybe this wool looks familiar? This is a glimpse of the wool after it’s been dyed and before it’s used in my purses.
