At Home: Before & After Side Tables

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any photos of projects. I have tons of before and afters to share so here are two living room side tables that I painted to blend in with the walls in the room. These are actually bedside tables which were the perfect size and shape for what I wanted.

A quick coat (or two) of paint can quickly transform the look of secondhand furniture. I also painted these with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The light grey is a mix of pure white and graphite and the dark table is pure graphite.

Paint colour for the light grey wall is Grey Taupe by Benjamin Moore Origins OR-489. It is a warm grey that changes depending on the light and I would recommend it.

This was the cosmetic case giveaway — thank you to everyone who entered.

Another place to find Plum Tree Weddings is on Pinterest. I highly recommend following her boards, the images are stunning.

More Cosmetic Cases

After 3 years of making only one main cosmetic case  I decided it was time to add some more sizes and variety. Last month I drafted up some new shapes and sizes as shown below in my sketchbook and in prototype form in the solid white.

The three new sizes shown together and below they are made in their final form.

Spring Colour

Spring is here on the west coast and I’ve been busy working with bright colours, metallic paints and larger scale. These are some photos of my current wall pieces that I’m working on in preparation for the Toronto One of a Kind Spring Show coming up at the end of this month.

I love the neon trend and have been adding electric colours to some of the wall art as a way to introduce bright colours into a room. My favourite is this neon yellow/green colour.

In addition to the neon and bright colours I’m also working with neutrals and soft colours.

Gold

Over the past week I’ve been busy and so inspired, all by adding gold to the colour palette. I’m using it on a whole line of new things for spring, including another version of the iPad sleeve. Here’s a peak inside of my studio and what I’ve been working on.

I’m in the midst of finishing up and photographing so there will be more to come.

The New iPad Sleeve is Here!

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been working on my prototype for the iPad sleeve and the final product is now here. There were lots of things to consider in making the design and I experimented with several different closure options. This sleeve works really well with the iPad on it’s own or with a smartcover. I can make it larger to accommodate larger book covers as well.

I’ve begun posting this in my online store and etsy shop.

A new website for Shibang is underway right now with the help of a webmaster to make the site iPad friendly.

New iPad Sleeve

I had hoped to have this new and improved version of the iPad sleeve ready before Christmas but they’re just about ready now and I’m sure that after the holidays there may be a few people looking for something to protect their device in something that is unique.

Here’s a glimpse of the case the opens lengthwise, has a lining with some structure and an outer cashmere blend wool.
