Recent Work

It’s been a long time since I last did a blog post. Over the past month and a bit I’ve been making some new things are here’s a look at what I’ve been up to.

Coloured leather coin purses. Using a vibrant background colour and leather were both something I hadn’t done before.

This is a sketch I did based on a custom make up set that a customer requested, below is the finished product — a large box shaped cosmetic case and a brush roll.

The big tote is back for summer and in a light bluish-grey cotton with heavy bridle leather handles.

This was a commission I did for a bedroom in Toronto. Most people are putting the wall art in their bedrooms above the bed and this mauve colour scheme is the most popular.

I dyed some new colours of wool, mostly in shades in of soft pink which are part of the bridal collection.

And lastly, I was able to restock my supply of thick grey wool so the felt iPhone sleeves are available again (as featured in this etsy finds email below).

Cassie Dee

I have some photos to share of a recent collaboration that is underway with  Cassie Dee and Christine Adela White.  Cassie is a Vancouver  designer who was one of 5 selected fashion designers in the Mercedez Benz start up show in Toronto this past October. Part of her line includes bridesmaid dresses, as modelled by Christine who is in the running for Miss Universe 2012. These are some shots that we took together last week.

Cassie’s bridesmaid dresses are individually made and the one shown below can be tied various ways around the neck. On her blog, Cassie shows her process behind draping several new dresses that will be soon be available.

More information about Christine‘s run for Miss Universe 2012 is available on her Facebook page and website. In May she’ll be off to Toronto to compete for the place of Canadian representative.

New Online Shop

Introducing a New Online Shop

During the past couple of weeks I’ve been working on a new online shop for Shibang Designs. I still have the Etsy shop running but wanted to create something else that’s more accessible for people who don’t have Etsy. These are some screenshots from the shop which is live at the new www.shibangdesigns.ca.

Along the top bar are categories for each product gallery.

When looking at the products if you scroll your mouse over the image it will show a detailed view as shown above. More items are being updated frequently. I just made a variety of new clutches which will be up soon.

Light & Bright

Last week I was mentioning some of the new shades of cream, grey and silver that would be coming. I prefer to use neutral coloured fabrics because they make the colours stand out the best. The look can completely change just by updating the shade of grey or beige. Here are some photos of this new look – bold black with bright colours. This cream is light and a good alternative to white for people who like the summer look but are cautious of having white.

More photos of the finished products are available on my new website, online shop and etsy. In the next couple of weeks more new fabrics and colour combinations will be coming out, in time for the Halifax Crafter’s Spring Fling happening April 30th & May 1st.

Updated Shapes

Last week I started working on updated shapes for coin purses and pencil cases. The coin purses are now larger and the pencil cases are longer, leaner and with a round shape to match the coin purses. Now there will be more selection available in little bags to suit every need.

These updated styles will become a part of my bridal line that will be online soon.

Original Coin Purse & New Style

Styles to Come

Custom Orders

In December I had a couple of requests for modifications of existing styles of purses. I am always open to suggestions and custom orders. Often if one person is looking for a particular style there are others thinking the same. Here’s a peak at two styles of purses to come.

Laptop Carrying Case

Clutch with Removable Chain Strap

These styles will be available late February.
