Beach Souvenirs

Bowen Island

In our home I like to bring in souvenirs from places we’ve visited or lived. After a trip to Vancouver this summer these shells and driftwood came back in my suitcase.

Shibang Designs Beach SouvenirsThe mussels and shells look like mini watercolours with their painterly blues and purples.

Driftwood

I love how driftwood is so sculptural like in the photo above. The garland is made of small pieces like the one by BHLDN.

Gold

Over the past week I’ve been busy and so inspired, all by adding gold to the colour palette. I’m using it on a whole line of new things for spring, including another version of the iPad sleeve. Here’s a peak inside of my studio and what I’ve been working on.

I’m in the midst of finishing up and photographing so there will be more to come.

West Coast Living

In September I moved Shibang from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Bowen Island, British Columbia. It was one of the biggest moves in distance that you can make in Canada and now we’re here on the other coast. Bowen Island has a population of about 4000, including many artists and is a 20 min ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, which is a 20 min drive to downtown Vancouver (when the traffic’s good).

Here are some photos of the island and all of it’s natural beauty. I’m definitely inspired and in awe of how huge the trees are. Walks here are like hikes, you can see the stars at night and Vancouver is just a short distance away.

This is Bowen Island as seen on the ferry ride back at sunset.

My studio is up and running, the holiday show season is just around the corner starting with Circle Craft at The Vancouver Convention Centre next week.
